Welcome to Cats at Large: Where Rescue Dog Training Changes Lives

Where It All Began (and Why I’m So Passionate)

Back in 2021, life took a turn I never expected. It all started when I brought home Max, an anxious rescue pup who had clearly been through more than his share of tough times. He was skittish, unpredictable, and full of quirks that left me scratching my head every single day. I dove into books, blogs, and forums about dog training—but much of what I found didn’t quite click for the unique challenges rescue dogs face.

That’s when it hit me: there’s got to be a better way. What if there was a place focused on helping people understand and connect with their rescue dogs? From there, Cats at Large grew roots—starting as just some scribbled notes about building trust and evolving into this little corner of the internet dedicated to making rescue dog training feel less overwhelming and more rewarding.

Here’s Why I’m Doing This

I’m here to help you navigate rescue dog training with clarity, confidence, and heart. Whether you’re dealing with fear-based behaviors, leash aggression, or the infamous “zoomies,” we’ll tackle it together—one step at a time. My goal is simple: turn your home into a happy, harmonious space where both you and your pup can thrive.

What Matters Here

Real Talk: If something worked (or flopped), I’ll tell you straight. Like the time I tried a fancy calming collar on Max only to discover it did absolutely nothing—he still barked at every leaf blowing by!

You First: Your stories inspire everything I create. One reader shared how they struggled with separation anxiety in their rescue dog, leading me to write one of our most-loved guides on creating trust during alone time.

Quality Over Hype: I won’t recommend gear, tips, or methods I haven’t personally tested or deeply researched. That means no shortcuts—just solid advice you can count on.

Curiosity Rules: Every challenge is an opportunity to learn. Remember when we spent two weeks reverse-engineering why certain dogs panic around vacuums? Yeah, that happened—and now we have answers you can use!

Let’s Connect

Got a question? A tip you’d love to share? Or maybe you just want to tell me about your own rescue dog journey? Whatever’s on your mind, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s build this supportive community together—one wagging tail at a time.
